LENT AT
THE PASTORATE

Lent is the Church’s annual season of preparation for Easter. The faithful are encouraged to greater attention to the word of God as they grow more deeply as disciples of Christ. Renewed efforts in prayer, penance, and giving nobly characterize this season.
"Time for God" is the theme of our mission during this Lenten season. Creating time for God is not just about finding time in your schedule, but also about making a conscious effort to cultivate a deeper relationship with God. By taking small steps each day to connect with your faith, you can find a sense of peace, purpose, and fulfillment that can help you navigate life's ups and downs with greater grace and resilience.

Fr. Rob will facilitate a small group this Lent using the book, Time for God, by Fr. Jacques Philippe. This book is an excellent introduction to meditative prayer that is short and easy to read.
The goal is not only to study and learn, but to engage one another in faith in order to grow closer to God and take a step along the path of discipleship.
Starting March 1 we will meet on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am following the daily Mass at 9:00 am (with a cup of coffee and a donut in between!!)
If interested, please contact Kathy Hofer at
(301) 473-4800 or at khofer122@yahoo.com to sign up and/or purchase the book.
You can also purchase the book on Amazon.com in either paperback or kindle format. All are welcome.

The foundational call of Christians to charity is a frequent theme of the Gospels and a special project of Lent. We are asked to focus more intently on “almsgiving” which means the provision of goods and services, works of mercy and charity, or financial support to the “poor” as they are present around us. Giving also includes our tithe or offering, our worship offering in our place of worship as an act of worship.
During Lent, we have the opportunity to participate in the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries. The Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries provides substantial financial support to serve those in need throughout the Archdiocese. This year, our share of what is given to the Annual Appeal will support our Faith Formation program. Discern prayerfully how God is calling you to give back during this Lenten and Easter season by supporting our Pastorate and our Archdiocesan family through the 2023 Annual Appeal. Thank you as always for your generosity.

This Lenten season, donations to the poor boxes will be given to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Please give generously to our brothers and sisters in their time of need.
If you wish to make a donation to the Pastorate, please select Easter Offertory.
