BAPTISM
Baptism in the Church
Jesus was baptized and taught his Apostles to do likewise. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God. We become members of the Body of Christ as we are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission. We can’t wait to welcome your child into the life of Christ and our Church through Baptism.
To begin preparing for your child's baptism, please call us and we will guide you through the necessary steps!
Here's a snapshot of the process:
1. Register as a Parishioner: This ensures you are part of our community as we support you in raising your child in the faith. You can pick up a form after any daily or weekend Mass.
2. Complete the Baptism Registration: Submit a Baptism Registration Form for each
child being baptized. You’ll also need to provide a copy of their birth certificate, so
we can accurately record their name for the sacrament.
3. Choose Godparents: Godparents play a vital role in your child’s faith life. At least one godparent must be a practicing Catholic. If you wish, a non-Catholic Christian can serve as a Christian Witness. Please provide the Sponsor Eligibility Statement to your chosen godparents for their parish to complete. Here is a resource to help you discern your child's godparent:
4. Attend Baptism Class: Once your registration is complete, we’ll schedule you for a baptism preparation class. This class is essential to understanding the sacrament and preparing for the special day.
5. Final Meeting & Scheduling: After the baptism class, you’ll have a follow-up meeting with our Director of Christian Formation. We can then schedule the date for your child’s baptism. Baptisms are held on the last Sunday of each month during the11:00 a.m. Mass. Alternatively, you may schedule a private baptism following a weekend mass with the Deacon.
We're so excited to help you and your child approach the sacrament of baptism!
