Altar Servers

Those who assist the priest and deacon during the celebration of the liturgy during Saturday and Sunday Masses and Holy Days. The altar server learns the parts and responses of the Mass and the liturgical year, assists at Masses, funerals, and weddings, and grows in fondness for the Eucharist by worthy reception and daily prayer. The patron saint of the altar servers at the Pastorate is St. Tarcisius. 

This opportunity is open to children and youth in the 4th to 12th grades (minimum age of 10 years old) and young adults. Training is provided.

Requirements: You must have received your First Holy Communion, arrive early for the scheduled Mass wearing the proper attire, and perform your liturgical duties worthily, attentively, and devoutly in body, mind, and spirit.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion 

Those who assist in the great service of the Church of distributing the Most Holy Eucharist to the faithful at Mass, the sick, and the homebound. The EMHC draws close to our Eucharistic Lord and is encouraged to spend an hour with Him weekly in Eucharistic Adoration. The patron of the EMHCs at the Pastorate is St. Peter Julian Eymard. 

Extraordinary ministers of holy communion receive sufficient spiritual, theological, and practical training and preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence.

Greeters

Those who welcome the faithful into the church, answers their questions about the community and parish life, ushers them during the Mass, and assists in the collections. The greeter is the first face of the parish, a critically important role in joyfully and hospitably guiding the faithful to holy participation in the Church’s liturgies. The patron saint of greeters at the Pastorate is St. Martin de Porres.

Greeters of any age are welcome, and greeters under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a guardian.

Lectors

Those who proclaim the readings at the Mass, thereby instructing the faithful and preparing them to receive the sacraments worthily. The lector meditates on the Word of God daily, grows in love for the Sacred Scriptures, and models the life of Christ for others. The patron of lectors at the Pastorate is St. Bede.

Sacristans 

Those who diligently attend to the preparation, storage, and care of the sacred objects used in the liturgies of the Church. The sacristan is detail-oriented, seeks to know the Mass in a deeper way, and serves the local Church in a hidden, indispensable way through daily prayer and quiet service. The patron of the sacristans at the Pastorate is St. Thérèse of Lisieux.
